Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear. But certainly God has heard me; He has attended to the voice of my prayer. – Ps 66:18-19
When you pray, do you believe God hears you? Are you worried that your iniquity – your mistakes and your past – interfere with your prayers? What if you didn’t have to wonder if God hears you? What if you could have perfect confidence that when you pray, God hears your cry?
Now this is the confidence that we have in [Jesus], that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. – 1 Jn 5:14-15
God hears you when You pray! Do not let your mistakes keep you from talking with God. Don’t regard – i.e. focus on – your iniquity. Keep your eyes on His righteousness instead of your mistakes. You are hidden in Christ (Col 3:3). You get to boldly approach the throne of grace (Heb 4:16): because God responds to your prayers the same way He responds to Jesus!
Prayer:
Father, thank You for answered prayer! I know that when I pray, You hear me; and I know that when I pray according to Your will, my prayers are already answered!
