Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Then Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and news of Him went out through all the surrounding region. – Lk 4:14
This is what happens when we survive temptation: we return in the power of the Spirit! Jesus went into the wilderness to fast, and to be “tempted…by the devil” (v 2). As a result of enduring temptation, the power on His life increased exponentially.
He made a quality decision to value His Father’s will over His own, and it had an immediate effect on His life!
Something powerful happens when we deny ourselves for the sake of God. Take your eyes off you, and glue them to the Cross. You will be stronger than ever: overcome by the power of God’s Holy Spirit!
Prayer:
Father, help me to take my eyes off myself, and to fix them on You! I want to serve You with my whole heart, in Jesus’ name. Increase the power on my life so I can do everything You have called me to do!
