Commentary from Pastor Mike White:
Do not go up, lest you be defeated by your enemies, for the Lord is not among you.
– Num 14:42
We must live according to God’s timing, and not our own. God had invited the people of Israel into the Promised Land, but they had refused the invitation. They doubted in God’s ability to give them victory over the Canaanites, so they backed away from His will for them.
When God invites us into impossible victory, we must say yes. The Israelites waited until their moment had passed to lament everything they had lost. Then they tried to force themselves into Canaan without God’s help, and their plan failed.
God is the God of restoration. He constantly gives us second chances (and third, and fourth). I am not saying that all hope is lost if we miss what He is asking us to do, when He asks us to do it. I am saying that we can save ourselves years in the wilderness if we make the decision to say yes to Him ahead of time, and make the commitment to be ready when He calls us into His glory!
Say yes and Amen to the plans God has for your life. Wait for His perfect timing, and ask for His help to be ready when it arrives!
Prayer:
Father, help me to be ready. I know You are calling me to do supernatural things in my life. You are asking me to face impossible odds, knowing that You are the God who makes the odds! Help me to submit to Your perfect timing, in Jesus’ mighty name.
