Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Now Moses said to Hobab the son of Reuel the Midianite, Moses’ father-in-law, “We are setting out for the place of which the Lord said, ‘I will give it to you.’ Come with us, and we will treat you well; for the Lord has promised good things to Israel.” – Num 10:29

Moses was setting out for the land the Lord had given him. The Lord had already spoken! He said He would give them the land! But they still had to set out and take it.

To “set out” means to “pull out” and to “pull up” (Strong’s H5265). Moses’ decision to set out involved movement; but before the movement began, there was a “pulling up” of roots that had to happen. He pulled his roots up from his comfort zone, and set out into the unknown. He had confidence to move forward because God had already told him , “I will give it to you.”

What has God promised you? It’s time to “set out.” Pull up your tent pegs, and take down the camp you’ve built around your comfort zone. If you want to move forward, you have to face your fear of uncertainty head-on. As you do, God’s promise is that everything He promised will always be available, in Jesus’ name.

Prayer:

Father, I am willing to get uncomfortable. I don’t want my roots to stay in my comfort zone. Give me the confidence I need to “set out,” in Jesus’ name!
