Commentary from Pastor Mike White:

So His disciples went out, and came into the city, and found it just as He had said to them… – Mk 14:16

Jesus gave two disciples insanely specific instructions to follow. They were to go into the city, meet a man carrying a pitcher of water, and follow him (v 13). Then, He asked them to repeat a specific phrase to the master of the house (v 14). After that, they would be led into the upper room, which would be furnished and prepared for the Passover meal.

This is how God’s Holy Spirit leads us. He will highlight people to us so we can strike up a conversation. Oftentimes, He will give us specific things to say to those people. When we make time to listen, God’s Holy Spirit will tell us exactly where to go, whom to see, and what to expect. The result will be supernatural provision.

The disciples did not argue with Jesus. They didn’t hem and haw, and try to convince Him that He was sending them on a fool’s errand. They followed His instructions, and found everything just as He had said to them (v 16).

If the Holy Spirit asks you to stop and talk to someone on the street, stop and talk. If He gives you specific words to say, say those words. Whatever He tells you to do, do! God wants to use you as an instrument for His glory. He wants to prove to you, and everyone around you, that He speaks to you. Will you let Him?

Prayer:

Father, I am inviting You to lead and guide me every single day! I want You to pull me out of my routine so I can be used for Your glory. I am ready and willing. Send me!
