Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Now they were on the road, going up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was going before them…And as they followed they were afraid. Then He took the twelve aside again and began to tell them the things that would happen to Him… – Mk 10:32

As the disciples followed Jesus, they were afraid! But they followed Him anyway. Fear did not mean the disciples were bad followers; it simply reminded them of their need to hear from God. To deal with their fear, Jesus took them aside and told them everything that was about to happen. He spoke to them in secret, so they could be bold and fearless in public. He foretold of His glorious victory: trial and tribulation would come, but Jesus would rise again!

When you are afraid, ask God to tell you all things that are about to transpire. He will prepare you – in advance – for everything that is coming your way. He will assure you – in advance – that no matter what happens, He is victorious!

Communication with God – through His word, and through prayer – is the remedy to fear. When you know He is with you – and will always be with you – you will never be afraid!

Prayer:

Father, take me aside and tell me everything that will happen. I confess that I long to hear Your voice. I need to hear from You! Thank You that Jesus give me access to the throne room of Heaven, so I never have to fear.
