Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
All this has come upon us; but we have not forgotten You, nor have we dealt falsely with Your covenant. Our heart has not turned back, nor have our steps departed from Your way… – Ps 44:17-18
David wasn’t getting the results he wanted, but he still honored God. David wasn’t seeing the outcome he expected, but he still praised His name! Is your attitude towards God dependent on results, or relationship? God is not a means to an end; He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end! If your relationship with God is contingent on getting what you want from Him, is that really a relationship at all?
Trust God. No matter what you see, or how you feel: keep going. Keep moving forward in the calling He has on your life. He will use it all for glory in the end!
Prayer:
Father, help me to trust You like never before. I will not forget You. My heart will not turn back, and my steps will not depart from Your way. If I have You, I have all I need, in Jesus’ name!
