Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing.” – Gen 12:1-2

The Lord told Abraham to get out! Blessing starts when you get out of your comfort zone and go where God has called you. God would not bless Abraham right where he was; God would bless Abraham where he was called to be.

What has God called you to do that makes you uncomfortable? What has God spoken to you that you’re afraid of? Don’t rest on your laurels and settle for inactive faith! Get out and get moving! If you’re not growing, you’re dying. If you’re not moving forward, you’re moving backward.

God didn’t give Abraham the whole plan up front; but Abraham trusted God anyway. Step one was simply to get out, and God would show him the rest as he went. What was the last thing God called you to do? Get out and do it! Your blessing is waiting for you there.

Prayer:

Father, motivate me to move! Help me to get out: of my comfort zone, and of the same old routine I have been stuck in for days, weeks, and months. This is a new year, and it is time to MOVE!
