Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’ – Matt 25:37-40
Whenever we serve another person, we serve Jesus. It doesn’t matter if a person in need deserves help. It doesn’t matter if they could have played their cards better or avoided where they ended up. It doesn’t even matter if we feel equipped to help them! When we feed the hungry, we feed Jesus. When we clothe the naked, we clothe Jesus. When we visit a sick person in the hospital, or an incarcerated person in prison, we minister to Jesus! Whatever we do for the least is service to God!
There is no such thing as wasted service. Time spent serving another person and helping someone in need is always time well spent! Serve the men and women God puts in your path; because your service to them is service to God!
Prayer:
Father, make me a selfless servant in Jesus’ name! Give me a compassionate heart for serving others. I want to serve You the way You served me: with my life!
