Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Then I said, “My lord, what are these?” So the angel who talked with me said to me, “I will show you what they are.” – Zech 1:9
God was speaking to Zechariah. The prophet saw a vision: “…a man riding on a red horse…and behind him were [other] horses” (v 8). But Zechariah didn’t know what the vision meant! So what did he do? He asked God for more. Zechariah asked, “My lord, what are these?” and an angel answered, and showed him what he was seeing.
Whenever God shows you something vague, ask for more. Ask for clarity! Ask for more detail. God will give you vision so you can see the plan He sees for your life. He also gives you vision so it can start a conversation between you and Him! When God speaks to you, it’s not a test to see if you can figure out what He’s trying to say; it’s an invitation to ask for more. Ask Him, and He will tell you what you need to know!
Prayer:
Father, thank You that You are always willing to speak to me! I’m so grateful for Your voice. I’m so thankful for Your patience with me! I ask that You would speak to me, now more than ever, in Jesus’ name.
