Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
…but in the days of the sounding of the seventh angel, when he is about to sound, the mystery of God would be finished, as He declared to His servants the prophets. – Rev 10:7
We know a lot about God; but at the same time, He is still a mystery. We know He loves us; but sometimes the way He shows His love is mysterious. As human beings, we crave certainty: we want to know what is going to happen at any given moment, and why. But there is such a thing as the “mystery of God” that we are called to embrace.
God is always good; but life doesn’t always make sense. If you’re in the middle of a season you don’t quite understand, take comfort in this reality: God’s ways may be mysterious to us here and now, but one day it will all make sense. The mystery of God will be “…finished, [just] as He declared to His servants the prophets.”
Keep your eyes on Jesus. Finish the race He has given you to run. Everything in your life may not make sense at this moment; but one day, it will.
Prayer:
Father, help me to trust You like never before. Help me to be comfortable with the mystery of God! I like predictability; but You, God, are often unpredictable. Help me to cherish Your mystery, instead of fearing it, in Jesus’ name!
