Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; But happy is he who keeps the law. – Prov 29:18

‘Revelation’ means prophetic vision, and ‘restraint’ is the ability to hold ourselves together. In other words, this verse is saying that when we lack prophetic vision, we start to unravel. The KJV translation of Prov 29:18 says that, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.”

If we are separated from God to the extent that we are not hearing from Him, we will spiritually wither and die. Yet when we have revelation from God, we will stay rock solid. We will stay well-fueled, and full of life!

So how do you get more revelation? Revelation belongs to Jesus. Revelation 1:1 says that, “…God gave Him [revelation] to show His servants.” Since revelation belongs to Jesus, we must get to know Him to find out more about God! If you need revelation, sit at the feet of Jesus! Consider the Gospel in awe and wonder. The more you intimately get to know Jesus, the more you will be overcome by fresh words from Heaven.

Don’t settle for a stale, revelation-less life. God will reveal Himself to you. Ask Him for revelation!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for providing endless revelation! I know that when I ask for more of Heaven, you cause Heaven to unfold in front of my eyes. Thank You for fresh manna, in Jesus’ name!
