Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
“But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, and the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand.” – Ezek 33:6
If you’re reading this, you are a recipient of the Gospel. You have heard the Good News! You were born into sin; but Jesus died as your sin, and gave you Resurrection life. You now have access to God: any time, anywhere. You now have access to all the “benefits” of the Cross (see Psalm 103): here and now, in this life! When you die, you will go to Heaven, and be with God for the rest of time.
But you also now have a responsibility to share the Good News with people who haven’t heard. You have seen “the sword coming:” you know that Hell is a real place, and anyone who doesn’t receive Jesus will end up there. With that knowledge comes the responsibility to tell other people.
Blow the trumpet! Rob Hell of inhabitants. Take everyone you know to Heaven with you, by telling them that Jesus is Lord!
Prayer:
Father, give me courage and confidence to share the Gospel with everyone I meet. I will blow the trumpet! Thank You for trusting me with the most sacred of messages, in Jesus’ name!
