Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, …let us draw near… – Heb 10:19, 20, 22
Under the Old Covenant, the “veil” was a physical barrier that separated God’s people from His presence:
And you shall hang the veil from the clasps. Then you shall bring the ark of the Testimony in there, behind the veil. The veil shall be a divider for you between the holy place and the Most Holy. – Ex 26:33
Only one man – the high priest – was allowed to go behind the veil, and enter the presence of God, once per year. The rest of God’s people were shut out!
But under the New Covenant, the “veil” is the body of Jesus. It is His flesh (Heb 10:22)! If you believe in Jesus, you have access to the presence of God. All of God’s people now have access to His presence through Jesus. If you believe in Jesus, you may! Not only that: you have “boldness to enter” (v 19) God’s presence: any time, and anywhere.
Jesus died to purchase you access into God’s presence. Are you experiencing everything He died for you to have?
Prayer:
Father, thank You for access to Your presence – anytime, and anywhere! I pray I would never be too proud to enter into Your presence. I need You! I need You every hour of every day. Give me boldness to enter into Your presence: by the blood of Jesus, in Jesus’ name!
