But into the second part the high priest went alone once a year, not without blood, which he offered for himself and for the people’s sins committed in ignorance… – Heb 9:7
Under the Old Covenant, even the high priest – the holiest man in Israel – could only enter God’s presence once per year! When he did, he was terrified. He had to ask God to forgive his sins, and the sins of his people; and he didn’t know how God would respond!
But under our New Covenant of grace, we have nothing to fear. We can enter into God’s presence whenever we desire; and what’s more, we never have to leave! We get to enjoy time in God’s presence. We don’t need the blood of sacrifices, because we have the blood of Jesus!
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your perfect presence! Help me to enjoy every single moment I get to spend with you.
