Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
“’Do I have any pleasure at all that the wicked should die?’ says the Lord God, ‘and not that he should turn from his ways and live?’” (Ezek 18:23) Believing in Jesus Christ is a choice. God takes no pleasure if we forsake His Only Son and choose to pursue wickedness. There is nothing in that decision that gives Him joy. Yet when we turn to His Only Son Jesus Christ, He takes pleasure in us! God’s desire is not for you to suffer, or to fall, or to fail. God’s desire is for you to prosper in everything He has given you. His desire is to see you become fruitful and multiply in His purpose for your life.
“’For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies,’ says the Lord God. ‘Therefore turn and live!’” (Ezek 18:32)
Prayer:
Father, thank You for taking pleasure in me. Wickedness give You no joy. Your desire is never to see me fail. Your desire is to see me come alive in You!
