Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared… -Titus 3:3-4a
When Paul and the leaders of the early church encountered the “kindness and the love of God,” everything changed. They used to be, “…foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another” (v 3). But when you encounter the love of Jesus Christ, God can change everything in an instant!
You don’t have to stay trapped anymore. You don’t have to feel like you hate everyone all the time! You don’t have to hate yourself or your circumstance. You don’t have to succumb to the lusts and shortcomings that once plagued you ever again!
Take a moment this morning to simply receive the love of God over your life. Pray the prayer below, and let His love wash over you! Without His love, you are hopeless; but with His love, you have Resurrection life.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for loving me! Thank You for Your kindness. Thank You for Your great love! I know I need to receive Your love first if I am ever going to love others well; so I receive it today, in Jesus’ name.
