Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Nevertheless Elnathan, Delaiah, and Gemariah implored the king not to burn the scroll; but he would not listen to them. – Jer 36:25
God was trying to get the king’s attention! So He sent His word. God spoke through the prophet Jeremiah, who told the king to turn back to God. But the king wouldn’t listen.
Wicked men hear the word of God and ignore it; but wise men hear the word of God and heed it! God’s word is meant to encourage you; and it is also meant to challenge you. Once you know God’s best for your life, will you be willing to forsake your own personal wants and desires in favor of His?
Prayer:
Father, help me to act on Your word at all times. I want to hear it, and to heed it, in Jesus’ name! I am not just someone who says he is a Christian; I am one who lives my life to prove it.
