Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Thus says the Lord: “Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where the good way is, and walk in it; Then you will find rest for your souls.“ – Jer 6:16
Scripture tells us how to find “rest for our souls.” If we want peace, we have to “Ask for the old paths, where the good way is, and walk in it.” But what are the “old paths?” The “old paths” represent the life of simple faith that our ancestors in Christ lived out every day: listening to God’s voice, and doing what He says!
Do you lack peace? Your life might just be too complicated. Come back to God’s word. Spend more time in prayer. Ask for the “old paths,” and cut out everything else! And you will find rest for your soul.
Prayer:
Father, I want to live a simple life. I want to spend my days in prayer. I want to love Your Word more than life itself! Help me to get rid of anything I’ve added to my relationship with You that’s making things complicated. I’m coming back to the old paths, in Jesus’ name!
