Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
And he touched my mouth with it, and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your iniquity is taken away, and your sin purged.” – Isaiah 6:7
Isaiah wanted to be used by God! But he felt unworthy. “I am a man of unclean lips,” he confessed (v 5). He thought he was too imperfect to be used by God! But God had already made up His mind about Isaiah. Isaiah would be His prophet. No one could cancel Isaiah’s destiny: not even Isaiah himself!
Don’t let guilt and shame convince you you’re not worthy to be used by God. The only thing God needed to do before Isaiah was ready was to remove his sin. As soon as Isaiah’s iniquity was taken away, and his “sin purged,” he was ready. He was ready to accept the calling God had on his life. He was ready to live out his creative design! There were no more requirements to being used by God!
Jesus has cleansed you from your sin. That means you are ready to be used by God, just like Isaiah. You are ready to serve Him! You are ready to be conformed to the image of Jesus (Rom 8:29).
Don’t let your past talk you out of a future with God. When you believe in Jesus, your sin is gone! And that means God will do greater things through you than you could ever imagine!
Prayer:
Father, thank You for removing my sin! Thank You for cleansing me, and making me whole. I love You, and I want to serve You, in Jesus’ name!
