Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Behold, you are fair, my love! Behold, you are fair! – Song of Solomon 4:1
The Song of Solomon is a beautiful love poem between Solomon and his true love. It is also an allegory that illustrates Christ’s love for His bride: the church. When Solomon declares, “Behold, you are fair, my love!” (Song 4:1), we are meant to know exactly how Jesus feels about us. He loves us, because we are His bride! He rejoices in us, because He created us for His glory!
And here is a powerful declaration that rings loud and clear like a wedding bell on a crisp September day:
“You are all fair, my love, and there is no spot in you.” – Song 4:7
Before you gave your life to Jesus, you had plenty of faults to be found; but now that you are washed white as snow in His blood, there is no spot in you.
If you have given your life to Jesus, you are the bride of Christ. He finds no fault in you; so there is no reason to hide.
Prayer:
Father, I will not hide from Your love! Help me to boldly embrace the future You have for me. Help me to shamelessly grab hold of Your love!
