Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
For it is a pleasant thing if you keep them within you; Let them all be fixed upon your lips, so that your trust may be in the Lord; I have instructed you today, even you. – Prov. 22:18-19

Most of us want to trust God more. We just don’t know how! Isn’t He trustworthy? God formed your “inward parts” and covered you in your mother’s womb (Ps. 139:13). You can’t even make a pasta sauce from scratch; yet God created you from nothing. He “laid the foundations of the earth” and “determined its measurements” (Job 38:4-5). We can’t even keep our apartments clean! Yet God set the world in perfect working order without even batting an eye.

God is trustworthy. But circumstances in life arise that make it seem hard to trust Him. He promises healing, yet we receive a bad doctor’s report. He promises marriage, yet we’re still single! He promises provision, yet we get hit with overdraft charges because our bank account is overdrawn. So how do you trust God more than ever before, when trust seems harder than ever before?

Keep His Word “within you” and let His Word be “fixed upon your lips” (v. 18)! The more you know God’s Word, the more you know God. Memorize His Word. Constantly repeat it over your life! As you do, the fruit of your efforts will be an effortless trust in God that springs forth like never before.

We live in a crazy world! But you serve a God who loves you like crazy. If you want to trust Him more, you have to get in His Word.

Father, help me to fall in love with Your Word like never before. I want to love reading Your Word. I want to spend my day repeating Your Word! I know the one thing I need now more than ever is time in Your Word, in Jesus’ name.
