Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
For indeed, when we came to Macedonia, our bodies had no rest, but we were troubled on every side. Outside were conflicts, inside were fears. Nevertheless God, who comforts the downcast, comforted us by the coming of Titus… – 2 Cor 7:5-6
Paul and Timothy were tired. They were “troubled on every side.” They were facing external battles with other people, and internal battles with their own fears. They needed comfort! So God sent someone.
When you need comfort, God loves to send someone. Yes, His presence will comfort you; but He will also surround you with friends who feel like family so you are comforted in your time of need.
Make connections. Find a family. Join a church! There is comfort waiting for you in community. God will comfort you through others; and He will comfort others through you!
Prayer:
Father, thank You for supernatural comfort. I love when You comfort me with Your presence; and I love when You comfort me with Your people! When others need comfort, send me. I will be a faithful messenger whenever comfort is required.
