Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
“Walk prudently when you go to the house of God; and draw near to hear rather than to give the sacrifice of fools…” (Ecclesiastes 5:1). What is the sacrifice of fools? It is the opposite of the sacrifice of praise: useless, vain repetition and much speech. God does not hear us for our many words (see Matt 6:7), but rather for the faith which our words are uttered. When you go to pray, do you draw near to God to hear His voice? When you do, He will lead you!
Prayer:
Father, help me to listen when I pray. Help me to be still and know that You are God. You really do have it a figured out, and You will reveal your plan to me in due time. Until then, I will be patient, wait and listen!
