Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
I put on righteousness, and it clothed me; my justice was like a robe and a turban. – Job 29:14
Job wore righteousness; but you and I are the righteousness of Christ!
Job wore righteousness like a garment. He put it on like you would put on clothes. Under the Old Covenant, you could wear righteousness; but what you put on could also be taken off! If you made a mistake or had a bad day, you could lose your righteousness. It would be stripped from you until you made it up to God.
But you and I are the righteousness of Christ:
For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. – 2 Cor 5:21
Under the New Covenant, your righteousness cannot be taken. It cannot be removed! You don’t just wear it, you become it!
On your best day, you are the righteousness of Christ. On your worst day, you are still the righteousness of Christ!
Prayer:
Father, thank You that I am the righteousness of Christ. Thank You for making me whole. Thank You for making me new, in Jesus’ name!
