Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
A little that a righteous man has Is better than the riches of many wicked. For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, But the Lord upholds the righteous. – Ps. 37:16-17

Do you remember when Aaron and Hur held up Moses’ arms?

But Moses’ hands became heavy; so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. So Joshua defeated Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword. – Ex. 17:12-13

All Moses had to do to win the battle was keep his hands raised in praise! But the burden was heavy. The task was weighty. So God sent good friends to hold up Moses’ hands and help him reach victory.

Today’s Scripture says that when you are righteous, God Himself will hold up your hands! He will support your arms so you never get tired on your way to victory. If you are wicked (i.e. if you don’t know Jesus), the weight of what you are trying to hold and the burden you are trying to carry will break your arms. Your work will seem impossible! But when you have Jesus, your work will feel incredibly light.

Won’t you receive Jesus this morning? He will carry your burden. He will hold up your hands! He will bring you to victory, in Jesus’ name.

“For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” – Matt. 11:30

Father, thank You for upholding me. Thank You for keeping my arms raised in praise! I am hidden in Jesus, and that means I am righteous! I am so grateful that the burdens of life will never crush me; they will only make me stronger, in Jesus’ name.
