Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread… – 1 Cor. 11:23

The Apostle Paul received, and he delivered. Jesus spoke to him about the importance of communion; so Paul delivered that message to the local church. The Apostle Paul didn’t hide what Jesus had asked him to make public and share! He was faithful to release the things that God had asked him to release. There are two healthy reminders in today’s verse:

First, you have to receive before you can deliver. You should spend the first portion of your morning receiving from Jesus. Always. Get alone with God and ask Him to renew you with strength. Ask Him to refresh your mind! Ask Him to give you the strength you need to thrive throughout your day, and He will honor your prayer.

Second, delivery is the end goal of receipt. Are you sharing the goodness of God with other people, or are you keeping Him to yourself? God will give you revelation. He will heal your body! But part of the purpose of every experience with Him is so you can tell other people just how faithful He is.

Are you making time to receive? Are you delivering what God has entrusted into your care?

Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give. – Matt. 10:8

Father, help me to make time to receive from You. I know it is impossible to pour out what has not been poured in! Also, help me to be faithful to focus on delivering what I have received. You gave it to me so I can pass it on to others! I ask that You help me to be faithful to that end, in Jesus’ name!
