Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

And they took strong cities and a rich land, and possessed houses full of all goods, cisterns already dug, vineyards, olive groves, and fruit trees in abundance. So they ate and were filled and grew fat, and delighted themselves in Your great goodness. – Neh 9:25

God’s children delighted themselves in God’s great goodness. They didn’t hide the gifts He had given them; they put them on full display. They weren’t ashamed of the wealth with which God has blessed them; they kept it out in the open for everyone to see.

When the Israelites went in to possess the Promised Land, they weren’t just taking territory. They took “strong cities and a rich land, and possessed houses full of all goods.” They enjoyed the fruit of their enemies’ labors. They didn’t have to dig wells, or plant vineyards; in fact, they didn’t have to do any hard work at all! All they had to do was enjoy what God provided.

God is good. Jesus made abundant provision for you on the Cross. All that’s left for you to do is enjoy salvation! Are you delighting yourself in His great goodness?

Prayer:

Father, thank You for being so good to me. I didn’t earn salvation; but I am saved by grace. Everything I have is a gift from You. Help me to enjoy it!
