Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Then we departed from the river of Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go to Jerusalem. And the hand of our God was upon us, and He delivered us from the hand of the enemy and from ambush along the road. – Ezra 8:31
Ezra should have been dead. He led a group of exiled Jewish families back from Babylon to Jerusalem with no protection. That should have been suicide! But “the hand of our God was upon [them].” God delivered them from the enemy! Their journey was not only safe; it was not even delayed.
The hand of God changes everything. When you have the hand of God on your life, you will enjoy supernatural favor. When you have the hand of God on your life, you will experience supernatural protection! The hand of God will safely deliver you from where you are, to where God needs you to be to fulfill the thoughts and plans He has for your life.
So, how do you make sure the “hand of God” is upon you? First, receive Jesus. Jesus is “at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him” (1 Peter 3:22). When you are hidden in Jesus, the hand of God will be upon you! Second, humble yourself. “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time…” (1 Peter 5:6). God is more than willing to have His hand on you! But you have to position yourself by humbly bowing at the feet of Jesus.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your hand on my life. Thank You for divine protection and provision, in Jesus’ name. Thank You that I have nothing to fear, because Your hand is upon me!
