Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord gave to each one? – 1 Cor 3:5
We should never follow men; we should follow God! Paul is nothing! Apollos is nothing! But God is everything.
We live in a day and age where many people follow a strong leader instead of a strong God. These things should not be so! The task of every minister is to encourage people to put their eyes on Jesus. As a pastor, my job is to put myself out of a job: to teach people they can have a life-changing relationship with Jesus through an encounter with God’s Holy Spirit, with or without me!
Congregants: Don’t get so lost following a minister that you lose sight of God.
Pastors: The congregants in your church are not your people! They are God’s! He has given them to you, and it is your joy to encourage them to believe in Him.
Prayer:
Father, I want to follow You and You alone. I don’t want to follow a man, because no man can save me! I want to follow Jesus, because in Him I am saved.
