Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. – 1 Cor 2:12
A significant part of the Holy Spirit’s ministry is explanation: revealing the things of God to His people. It is fruitless to try to understand Scripture without asking God’s Holy Spirit for help. God gave Him to us so we can understand the things He wants us to know!
One thing I like to do every morning before I read God’s Word is sit down and pray. I ask the Holy Spirit to give me revelation as I read: to explain things to me that otherwise I would not understand. The Holy Spirit is the best Teacher of God’s word; so ask Him to reveal God’s will to you as you read!
Prayer:
Father, show me Your will in Your word. I pray Your Holy Spirit would reveal supernatural truth to me as I read. Bless me with spiritual understanding of everything you want me to know, in Jesus’ name!
