Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
And finding disciples, we stayed there seven days. They told Paul through the Spirit not to go up to Jerusalem. – Acts 21:4
God divinely positioned other believers in Paul’s path to give him warning. We see a prophet named Agabus deliver a similar warning in verse 11:
When he had come to us, he took Paul’s belt, bound his own hands and feet, and said, “Thus says the Holy Spirit, ‘So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man who owns this belt, and deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.’ ” – Acts 21:11
Everywhere Paul went, God spoke through people around him! God is always willing to position sons and daughters to warn you, inform you, and pray for you. Wherever you go, be receptive! Ask God to put people in your path to deliver timely messages you need to hear; and when they speak, listen!
Prayer:
Father, thank You for putting good friends in my path. I need them! Thank You for speaking through Your people, and for warning me of things to come, in Jesus’ name.
