Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Nevertheless he persisted in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who had made Israel sin; he did not depart from them. – 2 Kings 3:3
Jeroboam “made Israel sin.” Did you know your behavior can influence others? Did you know you can inadvertently “make” other people sin?
The way you follow (or fail to follow) Jesus sets an example for the people around you. The things you 1) say and 2) do matter! Would other people look at you and say, that’s a man (woman) who follows Jesus with all his (her) heart?
If not, don’t panic. Ask the Holy Spirit for help! We can’t even declare “Jesus is Lord” without the Holy Spirit’s help (1 Cor 12:3). How much more do we need His help to show everyone around us that we really mean what we declare?
Prayer:
Father, help me. I want to love Jesus more than ever before. I want to follow Him like never before! But I need Your help. Work through me, in Jesus’ name!
