Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Then he cried out to the Lord and said, “O Lord my God, have You also brought tragedy on the widow with whom I lodge, by killing her son?” – 1 Kings 17:20
This was Elijah: a prophet of God! He was a man known for his ability to hear from God, and decipher what God was up to. But did you know there were things even Elijah didn’t understand?
I believe we should always seek to know what God is doing; but we must also embrace the reality that sometimes we won’t have a clue! And do you know what? That’s ok. Elijah didn’t have it all figured out! And neither will you.
It’s ok not to know. It’s ok to question! It’s ok to wonder why. But even through the doubts and the fear, trust God. Elijah didn’t know why it had happened; but he did know God would make it right.
Prayer:
Father, I trust You! I don’t always know why You do what You do; but I always trust that You know what You are doing. Help me to put my faith in You like never before, in Jesus’ name!
