Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God coming in and saying to him, “Cornelius!” And when he observed him, he was afraid, and said, “What is it, lord?” – Acts 10:3-4

Encounters with God are meant to be interactive! Cornelius saw an angel, so he asked, “What is it, lord?” What do You need me to see? What message are you trying to get across to me? Cornelius wasn’t sure what the vision meant, so he asked God for an explanation!

Later in today’s reading, Peter falls into a trance while praying:

And a voice came to him, “Rise, Peter; kill and eat.” But Peter said, “Not so, Lord! For I have never eaten anything common or unclean.” – Acts 10:13-14

Peter interacted with the messenger in his vision, just as Cornelius had!

Cornelius had a vision, and Peter fell into a trance; and both men talked with God through it all! God might speak to you differently than He speaks to me, but the purpose in both our conversations is the same: to have intimate communion with our Father who loves us!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the privilege of talking with You, interacting with You, and getting to know You. Thank You that when I ask You hard questions, You always have an answer. Help me to seek You with my whole heart, in Jesus’ name!
