Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?” And he said, “Who are You, Lord?” Then the Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads.” – Acts 9:4-5
Saul hated the Gospel. But look at Jesus’ response. Jesus didn’t abandon Saul and give up on him. He didn’t turn His back on a man who didn’t immediately accept Him! He met Saul on the Road to Damascus. Saul became Paul, and the apostle who would write 13 out of 27 books in our New Testament was born.
God can deal with zeal! He can take on the tough ones. He’s not afraid of those who are against Him. Pray for the people in your life who are most adamantly against Jesus and the church. God will appear to them, just as He did with Saul, and they will be forever changed.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for meeting my friends, neighbors, and loved ones, face to face! You are so faithful; and I am so grateful!
