Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves, saying, “What shall we do to these men? For, indeed, that a notable miracle has been done through them is evident to all who dwell in Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it.” – Acts 4:15-16
I’m hungry for miracles. I’m hungry for healing! I want to see the sick healed, the lepers cleansed, the dead raised, and demons cast out (Matt 10:8)! I want to see creative miracles happen when I pray for people. I want diseases to flee! I want people born without limbs to see them grow as I speak the name of Jesus over them! Do you?
Peter and John weren’t special; they were simply available. The one and only characteristic that distinguished them from anyone else is they had “been with Jesus” (v 13). Not only can you be with Jesus; but Jesus lives in you! The same Holy Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead lives inside of you (Rom 8:11)!
Don’t back down from praying for miracles. Don’t rationalize why a miracle hasn’t taken place. Keep praying, and it will happen! When the church gets hungry for miracles, we won’t have to invite people to church anymore; they will simply want to come.
At evening, when the sun had set, they brought to Him all who were sick and those who were demon-possessed. And the whole city was gathered together at the door. Then He healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and He did not allow the demons to speak, because they knew Him. – Mk 1:32-34
Prayer:
Father, I am hungry for miracles. I want to see people healed! I want to see people set free! Work through me, and put Your power and Your glory on display, in Jesus’ name!
