Commentary from Pastor Mike White:

These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers. – Acts 1:14

Jesus told the disciples to go to Jerusalem and, “…wait for the Promise of the Father” (Acts 1:4). But waiting is not a passive position; it is an active state. Waiting involves earnest expectation that God is about to do something. To wait does not mean to check out; it means to continue to be present – mentally, spiritually and physically – until God’s plans come to pass.

The disciples waited by praying in absolute agreement with each other. “With one accord” means with one mind and passion (Strong’s #3661). They were all one hundred percent committed to actively waiting for God’s Promise of His Holy Spirit.

When we wait with active expectation, God delivers. What are you waiting for?

Prayer:

Father, help me to wait well! Help me to hold out for Your promises by praying in total agreement with my friends and family. Help me to wait with expectation, in Jesus’ Name!
