Commentary from Pastor Michael White:
And Samuel heard all the words of the people, and he repeated them in the hearing of the Lord. So the Lord said to Samuel, “Heed their voice, and make them a king.” – 1 Sam 8:21-22
This wasn’t Samuel’s decision; it was God’s. Samuel knew the people were asking him to choose a path that was against God’s will. So, instead of struggling through the decision himself, he kept it simple. He asked God what to do!
How many times in your life have you been torn between one choice and another: knowing that God asks you to do one thing, but your flesh cries out to do something else? Keep it simple! Ask God what to do. Are people in your life putting undue pressure on you to make a decision you’re not sure about? God will tell you what to do. Keep it simple, and let Him decide.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for being the best decision maker in the world. You are always right, and You always know what to do. I defer every decision to You, in Jesus’ name!!
