Commentary from Pastor Michael White:

There is no better time to renew our interest in our own supernatural potential than the beginning of a new year! Genesis 1 lays out three conditions for God’s creation to take shape: 1) creation lacked shape, form and light, 2) God’s Holy Spirit was present to effect change, and 3) God spoke.

We are a people made in God’s image (Gen 1:27). His Holy Spirit lives in us. He has written His word on our hearts (Jer 31:33), and has instructed us to go into dark places and speak His will into existence, just as He did at the foundation of the world.

So, I want to ask you a question: is there anything in your life that isn’t shaping up like you thought it would? Is there any area of your life that has been shrouded in darkness, and needs to be exposed to light? Speak God’s word out over your life. Declare Scripture out loud everywhere you go! Expect God’s word to cause things which are shapeless and void to shape up according to His will!

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the supernatural potential You have deposited in me! Your Holy Spirit lives inside of me, and Your word is written on my heart. Give me the faith and confidence I need to speak life into the dead situations in my life!
